Maybe “Ray’s Hell” was wrong. Maybe their medium rare recommendation is just hindering their burger from perfection. Next time I’ll give the medium prep a try and test it out.

Today marks the last Friday I spend with my dad in DC. Which begs the question, where do I want to eat tonight? I thought I’d get my wheels turning with some food for thought:

It’s hard to find good moderately priced Japanese in DC. But boy was I glad Mikaku isn’t closer to DC! If it was, I’d probably have trouble getting a seat! But the true test will come when I’m back in the throes of DC…. Will Mikaku be worth the trip?
I mean I’m sure most people don’t care about what salt is flavoring your steak as long as it’s well seasoned. This is me in about 7 out of 10 of dining circumstances. You can’t be a foodie ALL the time. But in certain instances I do appreciate the nuances of a fleur de sel garnish atop caramel or sea salt crusting on a whole fish!
